"As a property investor, I found this company really helpful in dealing with my work inquiries. They produced a great survey of a couple of my BTL's and an in depth schedule of condition on one of my commercial properties. Will definitely use again."
"Peacock Stevens were appointed to act as party wall surveyor in a house renovation I was completing. Peter Gadbury (London office) was slow and pedantic causing delays to the project. He questioned numerous elements that fell out with his expertise and the Party Wall legislation. His bill was excessively large - charged at double the time and hourly rate to his counterpart Party Wall Surveyor. When queried he was reluctant to release his timesheets and one can see why. He billed: 3.4hrs at ยฃ160p/hr for "Transfer of photos to CD", 1hr at ยฃ160p/hr for 3 short emails to me, and 5hrs at ยฃ160p/hr for editing and finalising a draft document that had already been agreed and signed-off by the other Party Wall surveyor where he decided to add additional elements such as lighting diagrams that were totally irrelevant to the PW award. During email correspondence, Mr Gadbury was keen to point out that he "did not charge for the time incurred printing and preparing the final agreed hardcopies...nor for taking them to his [other PW surveyor] office for signing". One wonders the type of person that does think they should be paid ยฃ160p/hr+VAT for standing by a printer. Unfortunately, this type of excessive charging brings disrepute to the industry, unfairly increasing the financial burden of the homeowner renovating their property. Better regulation of the Party Wall act to stop this sort of nonsense is long overdue."
